The Healing Techniques

Ways Into Healing With Light

By way of preparing for healing with light we first need to ask ourselves deep questions. Who are we? Where have we come from? Why are we here? Such questions can be unsettling if they have not been given attention with as much honesty as possible. Are we ready to recognize our conditioning and allow it to be challenged?

Can we believe that we are part of a far greater plan than we could ever have imagined? That the heart, with its desires, is more powerful than the mind? Some of this is more than we can asses or integrate immediately. We simply need a fair-sized range of backburners on which to keep the issues, ready for the moment when we feel we can look at them fearlessly, perhaps just one at a time.

It may also be helpful to join some kind of yoga or meditation. Not dissimilar is the Quaker tradition of silence and prayer. Jim Pym’s Listening to the Light gives an insight into the Quaker experience of practical mysticism where everything is seen as spiritual and we find the Divine Light inside us.

These can be a source of inspiration whether or not one is specifically concerned with healing. So much esoteric knowledge is coming out at this time, especially about the origins of the human race and the prehistory of the planet, together with instructions on how to cope with the rising levels of consciousness. Drunvalo Melkisadek’s material about all these matters is given in his ‘ Flower of Life’ workshops, which include the development of the Mer=Ka=Ba light field around those who breathe in and pulse light in a certain way. This is important for many people and they follow the exercise daily. The Mer=Ka=Ba light body thus created extends 17 metres (55 feet ) in diameter across body, the effect not unlike a flying saucer. The importance of this field is to help preserve the personal magnetic field as the planet itself loses magnetics.

Such knowledge is matched by insights into consciousness gained by working with chakras and visualization, and at this point the visualization training feeds the healing process in absent and present healing. These are some of the ways of preparing ourselves to give and receive light in healing.

Technique as a Tool

It is important to realise that techniques of any kind are basically neutral and are themselves only tools. The purpose for which they are used is all important. They can be used demonically, as with those who use black magic, or they can be used for blessing by those who are themselves desiring only the highest good and the will of God or the cosmos. Techniques alone cannot replace grace in ultimately meeting need. Grace is freely given when sought and restores a balance in giving and receiving. The techniques of visualization support the healing intention but cannot claim anything without it. There are dangers in trying ‘to make things happen’ without reflecting first on the intention. This leads us to the healer.

The Healer

We need now to look at how the healer look at himself or herself, how he or she looks at the patient and also at the source of the healing. The healer or practitioner may or may not be clairvoyant but will certainly be sensitive with a consuming love for Buddha or whatever name he give to the ultimate reality, aware that a power or energy more than his own works in him and through him. He or she will have a discernment and compassion for sick people singly or in groups. The healer seeks to bring people back into a harmony and connection with their ability to contribute to the process of their own healing and spiritual growth. The healer seeks to detach himself from any dependence his patient may have on him in the long term and to renew himself to be available for others seeking his help.

This is a familiar picture, applicable to every kind of healer to some extent. Those who work with light will have a special sensitivity for visualising and projecting light from mind, heart, eyes and hand. At this point, however, we shall focus on the person and needs of the healer himself or herself.

It is of greater importance that the healer be cared for and nourished by the divine source of healing itself and that time is given to receiving for himself or herself the very healing light and love that will be passed on the others at the appropriate time. So often the pressure and demands of those in the need can tempt us all at some point to cut short the time we personally need to be with the divine source, the inward Buddha. But this need to withdraw for silence and stillness, for prayer and refreshment, is more vital than we realise. It keeps us in balance, trusting that we shall be given what we need and that the future of the entire universe, strangely, does not depend exclusively on us. Sometimes, aware of the volume of need and a sense that we are inadequate to meet it, we can forget that there are other factors in the equation, from other levels, undertaking for us where we fall short. Only when we are withdrawn and quiet do we realise again this very necessary truth.

This perhaps the most important factor in healing but there are others. It may be that healing is not taking place. There may be a block, an obstacles or in our patient which cannot be seen until we are brought to a strand-still by an accident or a holiday makes us stop our busyness. We have time then to ask why there is this block to healing. Do we or our patient really want to get well? Is there a fear of being well and not being able to cope without the prop that sickness can be, ensuring the attention of others?

Is the sickness a self-imposed punishment for past guilt and shame? Can’t we accept and forgive other people and ourselves? Often we are harsher on ourselves than the Divine Love and often we are too proud to accept that we are forgiven and accepted unconditionally, whatever the score. We may need the help of a friend or counsellor to see that it is safe to let go and remain simple and uncluttered and transparent in giving and receiving only truth and unconditional love.

Cleansing and Protecting of Healer

Every day there needs to be cleansing of the auric field representing body, mind and spirit. We can ask that every cell in our body and every level of our mind and heart and every fibre of our will be cleansed of toxins and negative, of fear and a failure to troth, of pressure send pride, of over-attachment and ingratitude. If there is any entity in our auric field that needs to be sent to the Light, we should do that. As we breathe in the light of the new day we breathe out the old energies that are stale and toxic. Our schedule should contain plenty of exercise, a good diet and adequate rest with a day for relaxation and fun regularly. Sometimes, however, it is helpful to spend longer on the cleansing process as it helps our awareness of ourselves by naming our various parts and we can focus the light specifically in each area. Perhaps once a week this longer version may be helpful. May the Healing Light fill every cell of my body:

The brain – all organs of sight, speech, smell and hearing

The circulatory system – heart and blood, arteries and veins

The digestive system – stomach, liver, pancreas, intestines

The respiratory system – lungs and skin

The urinary system – kidneys, bladder

The reproductive system – sexual organs

The muscular system – muscles, tendons, connective tissue

The skeletal system – bones, spine, ribcage, pelvis

The nervous system – nerves

The endocrine system – glands

The immune system – the lymphatic system

May the Healing Light fill every level of my mind and heart :

My conscious mind – reason, intuition, imagination, memory

My subconscious and my unconscious

The interface with mind and emotions – my feelings

May the Healing Light fill every fibre of my will

May the Healing Light cleanse body, mind and spirit.

Cooper, P. (2000) noted that they are various rituals we can do for ourselves – keeping a spiritual or dream diary, making an altar table for our precious things, lighting a candle for a meal and trying to keep our lives fresh and uncluttered. We need to note the conditioning of the years and leave behind patterns or thought now outgrown. All these can be addressed gradually until a point is reached of simplicity of intent, where the Light alone becomes the focus of our living, the still inner point to which we return and in which the Light cannot be extinguished. As we rest in that place we can send out light to others or bring them into the light.

Wherever we work with light we draw the opposition. This should not be underestimated. For protection, cleansing and blessing visualise a cross of light or a star of light before entering a house, especially if it is a house of sickness and unhappiness. You can cleanse and bless a committee room, praying that the light may fill it and go to each chair round the table especially blessing. Finally give thanks for the good meeting that will follow.

For protection of yourself, another, your house or car, place a circle of light completely around you, above you and under you. You may wish to pit on the Armour of Light.

Light and Colour Visualisation Techniques

The technique of colour visualisation enables us to continue the enhancement of our colour sensitivity. We can then combine it with colour breathing exercises and finally with movements that help us to express the feelings associated with the different colours. The end result will give us an intimacy with colour that will not only prepare us for seeing a person’s aura but will also enable us to feel and work with the energy of individual colours for specific healing purposes. In general, using our mind’s eye for visualisation helps us to balance negative thoughts – those that have lingered in our mind for many years tend to increase the ageing process because of the chronic tensions they produce. As a rule, use visualisations to accentuate positive feelings – use images of what we want to happen. Rather than what we fear might happen.

Visualisation might be difficult to start with because it makes you feel awkward and the images are cluttered up with everyday thoughts. Use the simple relaxation as a preparation for our colour visualisation. This enhances our concentration and enables us to focus more clearly on the images. Being relaxed also has the advantage of allowing our body to absorb colour readily, and this contributes toward the healing process.

Simple Relaxation

Lie on your back on the floor. Make sure that your body is straight and your chin tucked in, your legs should lie slightly apart and your hands by your sides, palms facing upward.

Preparing for the Exercise

After the relaxation, sit comfortably, and follow the simple visualisation exercise given below. You can work with any colours for this exercise. The example below describes a visualisation using blue, and its complementary, arrange.

Simple Visualisation

Exhale slowly and close your eyes. Inhale gently, and imagine that you are sitting by a blue lake. The sky is blue above you. As you exhale, think of looking at the intense orange of a large marigold flower. Feel the calmness of the blue fill your body.

Repeat the exercise a few times, then sit quietly for a moments before you get up. Relax your mind, and let any thoughts float up into the atmosphere like beautiful balloons, and then gently disperse. Then bring your concentration into your body. Starting with your head, use your mind to work down your body to your feet.

Visualisation-meditation

To take colour visualisation a stage further you can meditate upon an inner story. Familiarise yourself with it or ask a friend to read it to you. Alternatively, imagine a story of your own.

Think of this visualisation as a way of travelling “out of your body”. Before starting, you must feel assured that you can return safely. To do this, relax and sit upright, then look at space around you. Remember the colours and shapes that you see. Feel protected by the space, and ready to return there after your visualisation. Gently let go of any tension and feel yourself starting to relax.

Then, on the next inhalation, bring your arms up over your head and stretch your whole body. Exhaling, bring your arms down to your sides. Repeat this twice. Now gently roll on to your side and sit up. Exhale slowly, close your eyes, and follow the story below in your mind’s eye. At the end of the story, take a deep breath and bring your thoughts back into your body. Return to the vision of yourself as you were before closing your eyes.

Finally, imagine a ring of light that contains a cross of light. Think of your charkas and, starting from the top – the crown charka – visualise the ring and cross of light working as a golden key to “close” each charka in turn. This protects you from the shock of re-entering your normal consciousness.

Colour Breathing

To benefit from an alteration in electromagnetic forces from imbalance to harmony, the technique most effectively employed is to meditate while performing colour breathing. The technique of colour breathing, developed by Indian yoga masters, is accomplished by concentrating on the desired colour mentally, using it in respiration process, and meditating.

The best time to practice colour breathing is immediately following or preceding breakfast or dinner (not lunch). Colour breathing should not be practiced as the last exercise of the night during the fist month of employing the technique because it is too stimulating to the mind and spirit. The increase of vital force may prevent sleep. Such controlled breathing not only raises the bodily vibrations, but it unites you subjectively with the Universal Consciousness. You should try to be fully aware during the exercise of the inflow of colour rays revitalising your body and mind systems and replenishing the finer vehicles of personal healing power with cosmic energy.

Simple Breathing Technique

Lie down, or sit up with your spine relaxed and straight. Breathe at a rate that is comfortable for you. Do not try to elongate the inward and outward breath and do not hold your breath. Just establish a natural rhythm, focusing on the breath until your mind is calm, and free of unwanted thoughts. Breathe rhythmically from twelve to eighteen times a minute. You might time yourself prior to meditating to establish the inhalation-exhalation pattern. As you breath in this steady rhythm, you should visualise the colour of the spectrum. If you are attempting to overcome a certain condition, you should use one particular colour or its nearest equivalent as your healing agent. Here is the step-by-step technique for correct colour breathing:

First, imagine yourself engulfed by a white light from the cosmos that enters your body through your head and moves down to your extremities. See it flood your entire being from within and without. Hold onto this image for at least two minutes.

Second, draw from this spectrum of white light the colour specifically required for the healing process you desire to achieve.

Third, visualise red, yellow, and orange being drawn up from the Earth through the soles of your feet to your various organs. This is the force the Hindus call Kundalini. In contrast, visualise blue, violet, and indigo as arriving from atmosphere. You should see these colour as vertical rays entering your body through the anterior fontanel and penetrating into the various organs. The Hindus call this atmospheric force prana. Visualise green as coming into your body through your navel on the horizontal plane.

Fourth, after employing the necessary colour, mentally bathe your body in white light, allowing your entire self to be engulfed in it. White light begins and ends the self-treatment with colour breathing.

The colour healer is a deep breather who is conscious of the Universal Life-Spirit that is around him. The Universal Life-Spirit lends healing strength. With each deep inbreathing, the colour healer draws in a portion of this power. He does this inhalation while consciously feeling the grandeur of being in harmony with the Infinite.

Colour Movement Exercise

The beautiful gestures of eurhythmy introduced by Rudoft Steiner at beginning of the 20th century provide a series of simple movements that help your colour visualisation. Eurhythmy was developed as a performance art. But has a therapeutic use, and can be practiced in order to enhance the feelings associated with each colour.

The movements developed from the contrasting feelings associated with “light” and “dark”. Yellow is the lightest colour in the spectrum, and the colour most like the sun. The position that represents this light is very open, with the arms reaching up, as if toward the sun. Conversely, the darkest colour, indigo, is characterised by the arms held low, and the body folded downward. Between these extremes the characteristics of each colour style the position. Eurhythmy always involves movement that follows the shapes already made by the body, so none of the colour positions is static. You pursue the colour’s form by following it through; and moving the arms.

To Heal Others

Those who give healing by the laying on of hands can bring light and colour through their hands to a specific points on the client’s body or they can place hands on the head or one hand to the head and one to a part of the body. To bring light and colour through the hands it is necessary to open to it at the level of the crown and brow chakra, visualising a stream of light or a ball of light at the third eye, just above the nose, Let the light surround the client, centred at the heart level, as well as at the specific area of need e.g. back, head, abdomen.

Although the client is not present, this type of healing can still be powerful. It may be helpful, but equally you may be led to way more suitable for you.

There are various method of absent healing. Here are three :

1.      Imagine the client lying down. Starting from above the head, bring your hands slowly down the length of the body, visualizing a deep band of healing light between your hands penetrating the entire body of the client.

2.      Align yourself with the Divine Light and Will and breathe steadily in this quiet state. After some time bring into the light in which you are sitting the person for whom you are seeking healing. Do not seek to connect with them other than by resting together breathing regularly in the Light. Visualize them well and happy. This is more beneficial when you have arranged before hand to focus on the healing together at a particular time.

Send out a ray, a circle, a star of light or the image of a body of light to cover, surround and to protect the sick person. Again, imagine them well and happy. To heal a group e.g. refugees, earthquake or hurricane victims, visualise the light or star coming down on the group and anchoring in the heart of each person. Hold in your heart and mind and in the light the group or their special needs or any local issues or global and planetary concerns you may wish to heal. Alternatively, you can send the light out across the world from the group.

Another method, involves three people sitting in a circle at the points where a triangle intersects the circle. Focus on the light and send it out through the third eye and the outstretched palms of the hands, each person forming a triangle with his third eye and two palms. Send out the light to a person or to the planet. This is a very powerful exercise especially when the name of the person or country is placed in the triangle. It would be possible to place and actual person in the triangle if it was considered appropriate.

DISCUSSION: The Attributes of Each Colour

Red

Red is the colour which has the slowest wave lengths.  It is at the heat end of the spectrum and represents fire.   Red is the symbol of life, strength and vitality.  In the aura a clear bright red shows generosity, ambition and affection.  An excess of red in the aura means strong physical propensities.  Dark red indicates deep passion, love, courage, hatred, anger, etc.  The dark cloudy shades of a colour are always negative.  Reddish-brown shows sensuality and voluptuousness and cloudy red greed and cruelty.  Crimson indicates lower passions and desires, and scarlet lust.

Red is dominant colour of the base charka and is the colour which earths us to this planet.  Children tend to love this colour because, until they reach puberty, they are not fully earthed. Ronald Hunt, in his book The Seven Keys to Colour Healing, calls this ray the great energizer, the father of vitality. According to him, red splits the ferric salt crystals into iron and salt.  The red corpuscles in the blood absorb the iron and the salt is eliminated by the kidneys and the skin.  This makes it a good colour with which to treat anaemia or iron deficiency.

Red is a very powerful energizer and stimulant and it is related to the masculine energy.  Through its effect on the haemoglobin, it increases energy, raises body temperature and improves the circulation.  It is therefore a good colour to use for paralysis.

Because it is a powerful stimulant and energizer, red is not used a great deal in therapy, especially if there is anxiety or emotional disturbance.  The exception to this is in the base charka.  Here it is used to clear blockages and to bring this energy centre back into balance.

When visualised in conjunction with its complementary colour of turquoise, it is beneficial for infections.  The red increases the blood circulation, enabling it to cope more adequately with the infection, whilst the turquoise helps to reduce any inflammation.  Red should not be visualised for people suffering from asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease or epilepsy.  Orange should be visualised where red has been indicated.

Two Visualisation with Red

Visualisation 1

When your body is relaxed and comfortable and your mind still and quiet,

imagine that you are sitting in the countryside.  It is a warm summer’s evening and the sun is just beginning to set.  As it starts to sink below the horizon, the sky becomes ablaze with colour.  It is filled with all the shades and hues of red which gradually fade into a pale pink.  The colours are alive and dancing.  They speak to you as they surround your physical body.  Try to sense how this colour is affecting you, physically, mentally and spiritually, as it is absorbed into your body.  Stay with this image for as long as you feel is right for you.

Now that the sun has set and darkness fallen, everything has become very still and silent.  Listen to this silence and try to reflect upon yourself and your experiences during this meditation.

When you are ready, gradually start to increase your inhalation and exhalation, becoming aware of the room in which you are sitting.  In your own time, open your eyes and be fully returned to earth consciousness.

Visualisation 2

It is a cold winter’s evening and the world is wrapped in her dark mantle of night.  The sky is clear and there is frost on the ground.

As you approach the front door of your home, you look up into the clear sky, seeing it filled with twinkling jewels of light set against a deep indigo background. Your hands and feet feel cold, even though they are protected with warm clothing, and your face, which is just visible above your thick winter’s coat, feels numb.

You open your front door with relief, enter your home and remove your outdoor clothing.  Walking into the sitting room, you enter the glow being created by the log fire which burns in the grate.  As you sit down on the hearth rug by the fire, you feel its warmth penetrating your chilled body.  Looking into the fire you watch the flames dancing and creating smoke which swirls and winds its way up the chimney.  The colours in the flames range from the deepest to the palest red, intermingled with orange, white and occasionally blue.

As you concentrate upon these flames you feel them inviting you to become one of them.  You accept and in so doing they allow you to feel the warm, deeply energizing and earthing colour of red.  As you dance and play with them, you become aware of the presence of other beings.  Could it be the salamanders, those elementals responsible for fire? Ask them to communicate with you and then sit in silence, listening intuitively for them to respond.

Are they asking you to take the flame that you are experiencing into your heart so that you can take it out into the world where mankind can benefit its warmth, light and joy, taking it especially to those places where there is darkness and emptiness?  Listen carefully and answer as you feel is right for you.

Returning from this meditation and becoming aware of your physical body, if you feel that it is right for you, take the flame that you became into your heart.  Take it out into the world so that those who are ready may share your experiences with you.

Orange

Orange is the symbol of energy.  In the aura, a bright clear orange denotes health and vitality, a deep orange, pride, and a muddy cloudy orange, a low intellect.  An excess of orange in the aura shows an abundance of vital dynamic force.

Orange is the dominant colour of the sacral charka and is related to the female reproductive organs and the adrenal glands.  It is akin to the feminine energy, the energy of creation.  It is more gentle than the dynamic, masculine energy of red but is complementary to it.  Therefore these two colours should be worked in balance and harmony.  Orange is the colour of joy and dance.

This colour is also associated with the splenic chakra.  It is through this chakra that prana or etheric energy is absorbed, split up into the individual colours of the spectrum and distributed to the relevant chakra.   Orange is therefore a good colour to use for fatigue and exhaustion.

The orange ray is used to treat kidney stones and stones in the gall bladder.  Frequently these stones are caused by our own bitterness and resentment against other people or life in general.  Orange has proved beneficial in cases of chronic bronchitis and with regular treatment can clear any build-up of phlegm and the cough which accompanies it.  Orange has an antispasmodic effect and should therefore be visualised for muscle spasms and cramp.

Visualisation with Orange

For this meditation, you will need a bowl containing five or six oranges and a knife.

Sit in a place where you can clearly see the oranges and start your meditation by just looking at them. Observe how they have been placed in the bowl.  Are they all the same size?  Is their colour uniform or does the colour vary?  Are they emitting an aroma?  Is the texture of the skin the same for each orange, or does it differ?

After contemplating the bowl of orange for about ten minutes, take one of them into your hands.  Carefully look for any variation in the colour or texture of the skin. Now cut it open and compare the difference in colour between the flesh and the skin. Place one half of the orange onto the palm of your left hand and place the palm of your right hand about 2 inches above it. Close your eyes and try to feel the vibration of this colour through the chakra in the palm of your right hand.  Breathe in the aroma and see if it provokes any memories or pictures which may come into your mind. When you feel that you have experienced all that you are able to, place the orange back into the bowl.

Sit quietly and try to tune into your own body. Try to feel the sacral chakra which is situated just below the umbilical scar. Gently start to breathe in orange, bringing it from the earth and into this centre.  As you exhale, allow the orange colour to radiate out into your aura. Feel yourself becoming energized and filled with joy. Allow any depression that you may have been experiencing to be dissolved.

When you are ready, end this visualisation by gradually increasing your inhalation and exhalation and feeling yourself being returned to everyday consciousness.

Gold

Gold comprises yellow and orange and is the complementary colour of indigo.  It is the colour of wisdom, associated with mysticism.  This is portrayed in the gold halos shown around the heads of saints.  In the colour gold, the yellow, pertaining to the intellect, has been transmuted to the wisdom of Cosmic consciousness, which, when realised, is accepted with an all-knowing sense of joy and bliss.

Gold has the healing quality associated with vitality.  It is therefore visualised, with its complementary indigo, down the spinal column to revitalise the nervous system.  Applied to the spleen, gold has a reaction similar to that of orange.  It gives vitality to the human system and has a beneficial effect on the skeletal system.

Visualisation Using Both Indigo and Gold

The hot rays of the summer sun have sunk beneath the horizon, heralding the darkness and silence of night.  With the rays of light vanquished, the sky takes on the deep indigo of night. The only part of the sky not vibrating to this colour is the circular halo, comprising yellow, gold and orange, surrounding the almost full moon.  On such a clear night, the light from the stars take on a vibrant golden hue. Imagine yourself to be part of this scenario. Allow the deep indigo of the night to gently fold round and cloak your human form. In so doing, tension and stress which has accumulated during the day is slowly released. Feel the penetrating rays of this colour ease any pain that you may be suffering.

As your body relaxes and allows the strong sense of peace and stillness to pervade it, visualise the golden shafts of light from the stars entering the top of your head, travelling through your skull and down your spinal column. This promotes a tingling sensation as your nervous system is re-energized.

Remain with this visualisation for as long as you feel comfortable. If you drift into sleep, don’t worry, the body needs to do this.  When you feel ready to come out of the visualisation, start to increase your inhalation and exhalation.  Envisage each of your chakras closing, like a flower returning to a bud.  Gently open your eyes and feel yourself returned to everyday awareness.

Yellow

Yellow is the symbol of the mind and intellect and is the dominant colour of the solar plexus chakra. This energy centre controls the digestive system and helps to purify the body through its eliminating action on the liver and intestines.

In the aura, golden yellow denote high soul qualities, a pale primrose yellow, great intellectual power, a dark dingy yellow, jealousy and suspicion, and a dull, lifeless yellow, false optimism.  An excess of yellow in the aura shows an abundance of mental flower.

The yellow rays carry positive magnetic currents which are inspiring and stimulating. They strengthen the nerves and stimulate the higher mentality. This is the colour which activates the motor nerves in the physical body and can therefore generate energy in the muscles. If any part of the body lacks the energy of this colour, it can manifest as partial or complete paralysis. It is therefore a colour which is visualised to treat these conditions.

Yellow works with the skin by improving its texture, cleansing and healing scars and other disorders such as eczema. It is used for all rheumatic and arthritic conditions because it helps to break down the calcium deposits which have formed in the joints. Yellow is the colour of detachment and if visualised in excess, a person can become detached from people and the environment.

Two Visualisation with Yellow

Visualisation 1

It is a warm summer’s day and you are lying on a golden sandy beach in a small cove. You are alone. The only sounds to be heard are the waves of the sea as they break on the shore and the cry of seagulls overhead. As you lie on the sand and bathed in the warmth of the sun, a gentle breeze plays upon your body. Surrounding the cove are grey cliffs which have green rock plants growing out of their crevices. The sky above is a pale blue and has tiny clouds sailing across it with the breeze. The atmosphere is filled with peace and tranquillity.

Closing your eyes and releasing any thoughts from your mind, bring your concentration into your physical body. Feel it surrounded by the golden yellow rays which are radiating from the sand and the sun.

Slowly, you feel yourself becoming detached from the world and its problems. In this state, you are able to look, with love, at family and friends and to realise that what they are doing is right for them and that through their actions they are learning, growing and evolving. You understand that you cannot possess or judge them or anyone else with whom you come into contact.  Lying quietly, ask to be shown the correct solution to any problems that you have or, if you have reached a crossroads in your life, ask to be shown the correct path to take.  At times, the path which we are shown is difficult and uninviting, full of hurdles and difficult decisions. We have been given free will and can choose to forgo this path for an easier one. If we do this, eventually we will again be confronted with the original path because it is only by taking this road that we are able to evolve.

Place the palms of your hands upon the sand.  Feel the tiny grains trickle over and through your fingers. Through the chakras in the palms of your hands, try to feel the vibration of this colour. Now visualise a shaft of pure yellow light entering through the soles of your feet, into your solar plexus. See your solar plexus become a golden living disc of light.  As you exhale, allow this colour to radiate out into your aura.

When you are ready, start to increase your inhalation and exhalation, gradually returning to earth consciousness. Close down your chakras by visualising a cross of light enclosed within the circle of light which the symbol are place around each of the seven main chakras.

Visualisation 2

Visualise a sunflower growing in a garden. In your visualisation take particular notice of the flower, how large it is and how many petals it has.  Look inside the petals to its centre where the deep golden stamens of the plant grow.

Sitting quietly, take this golden yellow flower into your solar plexus.  Allow its petals to become rays of translucent light which penetrate the organs and muscles situated in this part of your body.  From the flower’s centre, watch as a shaft of yellow light rays out into your aura.

In silence, try to experience how this colour affects you mentally, physically and spiritually. Take this colour in your visualisation to any other part of your body where you feel that it would be beneficial.

When you are ready, start to increase your inhalation and exhalation.  Become aware of the room or place where you are sitting. Now open your eyes.

Green

Green is the midway colour in the spectrum, being neither at the hot nor the cold end.  It is the colour of balance, harmony and sympathy and is the dominant colour of the heart chakra.

In the aura, bright, clear greens symbolise good qualities; light greens, prosperity and success; mid green, adaptability and versatility; clear green, sympathy; dark green, deceit; and olive green, treachery and double nature in a person. An excess of green in the aura denotes individualism and independence.

Green has antiseptic properties enabling it to be visualised for infections.  It can detoxify the body and bring the negative and positive energies into balance. It also balances the body, mind and spirit. When these three aspects of a person are brought into balance, it creates wholeness.

Green will cleanse the etheric body when administered through the throat chakra. Being the dominant colour of the heart chakra, it can also be used to treat certain heart disorders. If the disorder stems from an emotional origin, rose pink and pale violet should be used instead.

Meditation with Green

When you have relaxed and made your body comfortable, imagine that you are walking through a forest. The path upon which you walk is carpeted with fallen leaves and twigs in various stages of decay. The roots of the trees which protrude above the earth make their own intricate design. The trees tower majestically above you, stretching up their branches towards the light of the heavens. The air feels damp through lack of prolonged sunshine and the only noise is the sound of the crackling twigs and rustling leaves which come into contact with your feet as you walk along. All else is silent. Looking up towards the sky, you can see how the branches and leaves intertwine with each other, designing and creating archways throughout the forest. These only allow very thin shafts of light to penetrate through.

Finding a dry piece of ground of ground beneath one of the trees, sit down with your back against the tree, breathing in the atmosphere and silence. Talk to the tree and ask it to share its energy with you. Feel that energy entering your body, travelling through your spine and energizing the nerves, organs and cells.  Thank the tree.

Lie down beneath the tree and look up at its branches. These are filled with leaves displaying the various shades of green. Where the light filters through, the leaves take on a lighter colour than  those in the shade. Try to sense and feel with your body the various shades of this colour.  Take note of your experiences and try to ascertain which shade of green you have the greatest affinity with.

As you inhale, visualise a shaft of this colour horizontally entering your heart chakra, removing any blockages which may be present. As you exhale, allow the colour to radiate out into your aura. Try to be aware of this colour bringing the positive and negative energies of your body into balance. Also of bringing your body, mind and spirit into harmony.

Now breathe this colour into your throat chakra. Visualise it freeing the energy channels in the etheric body of any toxins or blockages.

When you feel ready, relax for five to ten minute, observing any changes which may have taken place within you. Start to increase your inhalation and exhalation and close this visualisation by imagine a cross of light enclosed within the circle of light which the symbol are place around each of the seven main chakras.

Turquoise

Turquoise is the last colour which appears out of the blue half of the spectrum. It is a colour which is not normally associated with the seven main chakras.

In eastern esoteric teaching, the heart chakra, which radiates green, is always connected with the thymus gland. This is a gland which, according to the medical profession, atrophies after puberty. Before that, it functions as part of the immune system. The thymus has its own minor chakra which is one of the twenty-one minor chakras in the physical body. Through the practise of yoga and meditation, One will  come to realise that as we enter the Aquarian Age, this minor chakra is enlarging into the eight major chakra.  I feel that it is the chakra which will be responsible for raising us into the higher level of consciousness of the New Age. Not only do we as human beings have to achieve this but also the whole of the planet. We can either help the earth in this task or let it be destroyed.

When the thymus chakra starts to open and expand, it encompasses the heart and throat chakra, plus many of the smaller centres situated in the throat, chest, shoulders and hands. I feel that those who have reached this level of development have the responsibility of trying to help their fellow human beings, who as yet do not understand, also to evolve into the New Age.

Turquoise, being associated with the thymus chakra, is a colour which works with the immune system and is used to boost this system. This could be a good colour for people suffering with AIDS, helping to prolong their life by strengthening the immune system which the AIDS virus destroys. Turquoise can also be used where inflammation is present. For this, it is particularly beneficial when visualised with its complementary colour red. Red brings a greater supply of blood to the area of inflammation, destroying any bacteria that are present, whilst turquoise helps to soothe and bring down the inflammation. If a person is suffering from a bacterial or virus infection or has just recovered from one, the lymph reflexes should be treated with this colour.

Visualisation with Turquoise

In your imagination, take yourself to a place where you are surrounded by mountains, their peaks soaring up towards the heavens. On the summit of the tallest of these is snow which, due to the cold climate of that altitude, remains throughout the year. The whiteness of the snow glistens and looks radiant in the light of the sun.

Finding a gentle, undulating path, start to walk along it and up into these mountains. The landscape that you see varies from sheer faced grey rock to gently slopping land, covered in grass and mountain plants. Upon this green pasture, sheep graze.

Walking on, you hear the sound of water and you see to your right a tiny waterfall cascading down the rocks and boulders. Where the sun catches the water, rainbows appear, creating living, dancing bands of colour. Continuing past the waterfall, you notice in one of the faces of the mountain what appears to be an entrance. On investigation, you find yourself standing at the entrance to a cave. You walk in.

At first it seems very dark and airless. As your eyes become accustomed to the darkness, you find yourself surrounded by stalagmites and stalactites but when you look at the floor of the cave, you find that it is covered with turquoise stones of all shapes and sizes.

Finding a ledge in the rock, sit down and pick up some of these pieces of turquoise. Look at their colour and for any variation in this colour. Place a piece onto the palm of your left hand, then place the palm of your right hand about 11/2 inches above it. Try to feel for any vibrations or sensations that it transmits. Now place this stone upon any part of your physical body where you feel that it would be beneficial. Feel its vibration bringing you back into harmony and balance. Feel it strengthening and energizing your immune system. Lastly, place it over your thymus gland. Concentrate on this gland and visualise your piece of turquoise activating the chakra in it.

Sit very quietly. Visualise yourself surrounded by the energies which are being emitted from these stones which lie on the ground. Feel their energies entering your body through the chakras on the soles of your feet. Reflect on any changes which may take place within you, physically, mentally and emotionally.

When you are ready, end this meditation by gently increasing your inhalation, closing down your chakras and returning to everyday consciousness.

Blue

Blue is the dominant colour of the throat chakra and lies at the cold end of the spectrum. It symbolizes inspiration, devotion, peace and tranquillity. This makes it an excellent colour to use with visualisation and in places of healing.

In the aura, a deep clear blue shows pure religious feeling, a pale ethereal blue, devotion to a noble ideal, and bright blue, loyalty and sincerity. An excess of blue in the aura signifies an artistic, harmonious nature and spiritual understanding.

This colour can be visualised as a protection. To do this, visualise yourself putting on a long blue cloak which reaches down to your feet, with a hood which you place over your head. Fasten the cloak with its full length zip. As you fasten your clock, so you protect yourself from any outside influence or negative energies. You allow to enter only what you choose.

In the new Testament, The Virgin Mary is depicted as wearing a mantle of blue. Many of the masters, those who have reached a state of spiritual enlightenment, have interpreted this as being an abundance of blue in her aura, denoting spirituality, devotion and protection.

Unlike red, blue is a colour which slows down and expands. A room painted in this colour will appear to be much larger.  It is used to treat tension, fear, palpitations and insomnia.  A person suffering with insomnia can help themselves by sleeping in blue sheets with either white or blue night clothes.  A low wattage blue light bulb can also be used, all night if necessary.

Blue will reduce inflammation.  Because it is the dominant colour of the throat chakra, it is frequently visualised for problems occurring in this area, for example, laryngitis, sore throat, tonsilitis and goitres. When blue is visualised with its complementary colour orange, it brings about a state of peaceful joy.

Visualisation with Blue

It is a clear, pleasantly warm day in spring and you are walking through a wood carpeted with bluebells.  Finding a fallen tree trunk, sit down a look at this spectacle of colour and splendour. Observing these flowers, notice how wonderfully and intricately they are made. Each tiny bell possesses its own individuality of colour and shape.

Closing your eyes and visualising one of these flowers, you find that the bell shape of the flower starts to expand, until it completely surrounds you and you find yourself sitting inside it. The stamens provide a pillow upon which to rest your head. Lie back and feel the softness of the petals encircling you like a soft mantel. The blue rays emanating from the petals play upon your body, releasing tension in your muscle and organs. Your inhalation and exhalation deepens as your body relaxes. As you inhale, you breathe this colour into your body through all the pores of your skin.  If there is any pain or inflammation in your body, visualise this colour surrounding the affected part, bringing relaxation and healing.

You are beginning to feel a deep sense of peace and tranquillity. You lose sense of time and place and you start to become part of the peace which surrounds you. Your physical body melts into this atmosphere of tranquillity and you begin to sense your higher self. You become conscious that it is inviting you to lay before it any problems or worries that may you have. Sitting and silence and doing this, you intuitively know that when the time is right, the answers to these problems will be given.  Sometimes they are given through a friend or through a book that we are reading.  At other times they come through our own intuition.  We have to learn to wait and to have trust.

At the end of your time of silence, Feel yourself being filled with that peace and tranquillity which passeth all man’s understanding. As you slowly start to increase your inhalation and exhalation, the flower of the bluebell starts to shrink and you become aware of your body sitting in the place which you chose for this meditation. Coming back into earth consciousness, end this meditation by closing down your centres of higher perception.

Indigo

The colour indigo comprises blue and violet and is the dominant colour of the brow chakra.  It works with the pituitary gland and encompasses the organs of sight and hearing.  It also embraces other aspects of the face.

Combining both the blue and violet ray, it speaks of deep devotions, carried with a sense of dignity and unconditional love.  It is also responsible for transcendent vision and for allowing us the ability to hear the voice of our own intuition.

Indigo, found at the cool end of spectrum, is a ray which is cooling and astringent.  It has the capacity to induce anaesthesia in the physical body, this makes it a powerful painkiller. It is colour which helps a purify the bloodstream and the psychic currents found in the aura. It is also a colour which is very helpful for nosebleeds.

Owing to its connection to the organs of sight and hearing, it is a colour visualised to treat cataracts and deafness.  If suffering from either of these complaints, we have to look at the cause of the physical disease.  Any problem relating to the eye can be caused by our unwillingness to see things that are beneficial for us, and also by our refusing to see someone else’s point of view. This attitude could lead to a persecution complex, making our outlook on life warped.

Deafness can be caused by an accident or severe shock, but it can also be the result of our unwillingness to hear things that may be for our own good. In such a case, we are giving our subconscious a silent command to shut our ears.

Violet

Violet is the colour of spirituality; self-respect and dignity; a colour frequently needed by people who have no respect for their thoughts, feelings or physical body. These people can love others but are unable to love themselves. Violet is the colour related to insight and the higher self.  It is an inspirational colour. Many musicians, poets and painters have written that their moments of greatest inspiration came when they were surrounded by the violet ray.

Violet is the dominant colour of the crown chakra.  In the aura, a deep purple denotes high spiritual attainment and holy love. It proclaims the divine radiance. A pale lilac shows cosmic consciousness and love for humanity, a bluish purple, transcendent idealism.

This is a very beneficial colour for psychological disorders such as schizophrenia and manic depression. It also helps sciatica, disease of the scalp and all disorders connected with the nervous system.

Visualisation with Violet

It is a warm and sunny autumn day. You are standing outside a small church, situated in the countryside. It is surrounded by fields in which animals graze. The leaves on the trees have turned into their autumnal colours of yellow, orange, red and brown. Some of them have already fallen, making a rich and varied coloured carpet upon the earth. Birds sing overhead and there is a distant hum of passing traffics.

Walk up to the door of the temple.  Push it open and walk inside.  Here the air smells musty and feels cool in comparison to the warmth of the sun outside. Standing and listening, you become aware of the still and silent atmosphere. Allow this atmosphere to enter every cell of your being, slowing down your respiration and giving you a feeling of peace and relaxation.

As your eyes become accustomed to the comparative darkness, you notice the statues of the Buddha and Bodhisattva which are standing around the Temple.  In the far left-hand corner stands a statue of the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion.  Look up the aisle towards the sanctuary and you will see the altar decked in yellow linen, edged with a deep layer of lace.  Upon its stand a Buddha and seven offering.  The temple is surrounded by beautiful stained glass windows.  As the sun shines through these windows, shafts of pure violet light stream into the temple.

Walk to one of the cushion and sit down in these shafts of violet light.  Close your eyes and feel yourself immersed in this colour.  Feel your aura and every cell in your body absorbing its vibration. It gives to you the feeling of dignity and self-respect that each one of us should have as human beings, dignity and respect for your feelings, thoughts and body.  With these feelings, you are raised to a higher level of consciousness where you are allowed to glimpse your true self, the external part of you which has no beginning and no ending. You are shown that this is the real you and that your physical body is the sacred instrument in which you live on the earth plane. You begin to see what a very beautiful instrument the physical body is, capable of self-healing when given the right conditions.  You are also told that all human life is a sacred and, as a healer, you must respect this and allow your own instrument to be used as a channel for the flow of the healing power of the universe. Sit for a while and reflect on these thoughts.

When you feel ready, stand and walk towards the door.  Look around the temple once more and thank the Bodhisattva, Buddha and your higher self for the experience that you have been given. Walking out of the temple, start to increase your inhalation and exhalation, uniting yourself with your physical body.  End this visualisation in the normal way.

Magenta

Situated above the crown chakra are three higher chakras. These can be experienced through deep meditation. The first of these radiates a pale magenta light, the second, the white light of God consciousness, and the third radiates that sacred darkness out of which all things become manifest.

Magenta is the colour of letting go. In order to experience these three higher chakras we have first to let go of our thoughts and emotions. We are then able to rise in consciousness to the magenta above the crown chakra. Here, we have to let go of our physical body a order to raise our consciousness into the white light of divine consciousness and then into the sacred darkness.

On a physical mental level, magenta enables us to let go of ideas and thought patterns which are no longer right for us. If we hold on to ideas and conditioning which originated in our childhood or adolescence, we become fixed and rigid and this prevents us from growing and evolving. To let go is sometimes difficult because it involves changes and this can cause insecurity and uncertainty. If we are able to see these changes as a challenge, then they enable us to move forward.

In letting go and flowing with the energies of life, we no longer have a set routine or pattern. This can be very unsettling for our personality but for our spirit it is bliss because it can move unhindered towards the vision which it had before it incarnated into a physical body. Once we have entered into a physical body the vision is lost to our normal sense but the spirit remembers and will pursue it at all costs.

On the emotional level, magenta signifies letting go of feelings which are no longer relevant. Perhaps we are still living in a relationship that has ended or in a situation that has passed. In order to grow and learn from our present situation, we have let go emotionally of the past. Again, not easy. On the physical level, it means relinquishing a physical activity which is no longer right for us. It could be a sport or some other activity in which we are partaking.

When magenta turns into a very pale pink, it becomes the colour of spiritual love. If a persons suffering from a ‘broken heart’, this colour can be visualised to the heart chakra to heal and to replace the emptiness frequently experienced with spiritual love.

Magenta comprises red and violet. Red, on the electromagnetic spectrum, follows infra-red which is a burning which is a burning ray, and violets comes just below ultraviolet which is also a burning ray.  For this reason magenta is visualised to treat malignant tumours.

Visualisation with Magenta

Picture before your inner eye a golden circle. Inside this circle is a beautiful magnolia flower in full bloom. Its petals are white with stripes of magenta running through them. These stripes are very narrow at the base of the petal, gradually widening until they join at the top of the flower, encircling it in a band of pale magenta light. As you concentrate on this flower, visualise it growing bigger until its petals enfold you and you are sitting at its centre. Sit still for a moment and try to feel the softness of the petals that are surrounding you. Be aware of the soft glow of magenta light that radiates from this flower and is absorbed by every cell in your physical body. Sitting in this colour, allow yourself to let go of any tension or pain, any emotional or mental problems that may be upsetting you.  Let go of anything that you feel is no longer right for you.  This could be a relationship, conditioning or an old habit. It is only by letting go of these things, no matter how painful, that we are able to grow and evolve. If you are at a crossroads in your life, let go of it. By doing this, we can frequently see the path that we are meant to take more clearly.

Having laid aside all the things that you no longer need, look up to the top of the flower. See how the magenta shines from the top of the petals and lift up into the white light of God consciousness, the white light which was born out of the sacred darkness and which contains all things.  Allow yourself to be gently drawn up into this light and there absorb the peace, understanding and reality which it can give.

After a while, into your hands is placed a lighted candle. The flame of this candle represents all that this white light has revealed to you. Take the flame and place it in your heart chakra where it burns as a symbol of the divine spark which is in each one of us.

Having done this, slowly start to return to earth consciousness by descending out of the white light into the magenta. Allow the petals of this flower to get smaller until you are again sitting outside it and it becomes a picture before your inner eye. Increase your inhalation and exhalation and start to become aware of your physical body. When you feel ready, open your eyes and be fully returned to earth consciousness.  Now close down your centres of higher perception as normal.

Meditation with Pale Pink

Bring your concentration into your heart centre. Visualise this as a small chamber that you are about to enter. Inside, you find growing a pale pink rose which is still in bud. Go up to that bud and place your hands around it, allowing warmth and love from your higher self to flow through your hands into the flower.

Watch as it slowly starts to open, revealing to you the delicacy with which each petal is fashioned, the subtle intonation of the colour, from pale pink to a deep rich pink at the outer edges and base of each petal.

Contemplating this flower, you feel it radiating to you a sense of deep spiritual love, the love that is permanent and unchanging. This love starts to fill your heart chakra and any emptiness that you are feeling within yourself. Every aspect of your being is touched by these rays of love.  Sit for a while in silence and reflect upon this.

When you are ready, gently start to increase your inhalation and exhalation and become united with your physical body. Look into your heart chakra and see that flower, in full bloom, still radiating its love to you.  Remember to care for it each day in your visualisation.

The White Light Healing Meditation

This is a powerful imagery sequence which you will find rejuvenates and revitalises you and it is a wonderful way to catalyse self-healing and convey your love and healing wishes to others.

Once you are comfortably seated, let your eyes close gently…turn your thoughts inwards…remember that this is a time for healing…

Feel your body relaxing…feel the muscles becoming soft and loose…feel your weight begin to press down into your chair, your muscles relaxed…feel any tension releasing…feel yourself relaxing deeply…completely…more and more…deeper and deeper…letting go…feel it all through the body…feel it deeply…completely…it is a good feeling…a natural feeling…feel the letting go…feel it in the forehead particularly…feel the forehead smoothing out…feel it all through…more and more…deeper and deeper…letting go…completely…deeply…letting go…more and more…deeper and deeper…letting go…letting go…letting go…

Now become aware of your breathing…it is not important whether it be fast or slow- just become aware of your breathing, whether it is fast or slow…the breath moving in and out…and, as you do, imagine that you are breathing in a pure white vapour…so, with each breath in, see this pure white light moving down through your nostrils, down into your chest and filling it with a pure white light…and, as you breathe out, imagine that you are releasing a grey light, a grey vapour, that carries with it all the old, the worn, and the unwanted…as you breathe in again, imagine that you are breathing in the pure white light and bringing with it all that is pure, and fresh, and vital…breathing out and releasing the old, and the worn, and anything unwanted in your system…breathe it out and release it.

Now, while this is happening, you may choose to imagine that the white light is originating from your idea of the Divine…it emanates from the Divine…and, if you conceive the Divine to have a form, then see it in that shape and imagine the white light spreading from its heart…so, if it be an elderly, male figure, see this bright light spreading from that figure’s heart…if it be from someone like Mother Mary, see the white light spreading forth from her heart…if it be some other form, see the white light spreading down towards you…and if, for you, the Divine is more abstract, perhaps it may suit you to see the focus, the centre of this light, as being like the sun and imagining the white light as streaming forth from the sun as representing the centre of the Divine, radiating out a pure white light in your direction…and so imagine that from that source the white light streams forth and, as you breathe in, it passes down through your nostrils, down into your chest, filling it with all that is pure, clean, vital, healthy, and whole…and, as you breathe out, release the grey, the old, the worn, and the unwanted…so that, with each new breath in, you bring, from out, you release any old and worn energy…anything at all you want to be free of…and allow yourself to settle into a rhythm…breathing in the pure white light, seeing it streaming down into your chest, and breathing out the grey…in with the white and pure…out with the grey, the old, and the worn…

And, as you continue, feel the white light coming down steadily into your chest, and the strength of the light in your chest, growing stronger, and brighter, and purer, displacing any old and worn and grey areas, filling your whole chest with a pure white light…a symbol of wholeness, purity, vitality, and healing…you may be feeling the white light too, as a warmth, like a gentle warm liquid spreading through you…perhaps it even tingles a little as it goes…

With each new breath, draw in more white light, till your chest feels like it is aglow, filled with this pure white light, so that it feels it is radiating pure white light…and, as you breathe in again, you feel the white light beginning to spill over, travelling down into your tummy…as you breathe out now, you can direct the white light, down into your tummy and, as you see the white light travelling down, feel it relaxing…feel it releasing…feel it healing…purifying…and feel the warm white light travelling down, relaxing, releasing…feel the warmth, the relaxation, the softness…releasing any told and worn energy…releasing any areas that are uncomfortable, painful…feel them being filled with the white light, with its comfort, releasing…and, as you breathe in now, draw in more pure white light from its source…see it travelling down into your chest…and, as you breathe out, radiate that white light down…down through your abdomen…down into your pelvis…releasing any tension…softening…bringing warmth…relaxation…deeply…breathing in more white light and seeing it travelling down now into your legs…down your thighs…softening…releasing…filling with a new strength…purity…bringing healing…and wholeness…

Breathing in more white light…seeing it passing down now, down into your calves…down into your feet…releasing any tension…releasing any old and worn areas…and bringing a new vitality…bringing healing…strength…so that now your legs, too, are filled with this pure, bright white light…

And, as you breathe in again, direct the white light now down your arms and feel the relaxation, the release…the softening, as your arms and feel the relaxation, the release…the softening, as your muscles loosen still more…right down…feel the light travelling right down into your fingers…feel them soft and loose…see them filled with the pure white light…symbol of purity…a feeling of natural vitality…

As you breathe in again, draw more of the pure white light from its source…see it filling your lungs…and now see it travelling up your neck…into your head…and, as it moves upwards, feel the muscles relaxing…feel them becoming soft and loose…feel any old areas being released…any worn areas…letting go…any diseased areas being freed, and replaced with a pure white light…symbol of new strength…of purity…of healing…of whole vitality…

So, new feel your whole body filled with this pure white light and, with each new breath in, draw more white light from its source…and see it filling your body with still more white light, so that your whole body is glowing intensely with the pure white light…

And, as you breathe in more, see the white light expanding out, beyond your body…to encapsulate you, like an egg…like a cocoon of bright, pure, white light…filling you with strength and vitality…feel it as whole…feel its unity…feel yourself to be at one with it…allow yourself to merge in the purity of the white light…feel its Divine Source moving through you…feel yourself to be at one with it…feel yourself at peace…be still…feel it all through…deeply…completely…all through…feel yourself at one…and be still…

As you feel its sense of wholeness through you, you may now like to direct that white light to someone you care for…to share that feeling with them…and so imagine them where you can, doing whatever…and imagine that, as you breathe in, the white light passes through you and radiates like a searchlight to the person you care for…and see them filled with its whiteness…see their body glowing white…and see them surrounded in a cocoon of pure white light…a symbol for purity…for wholeness…for healing…for renewed vitality…

And, as you breathe in, draw in more white light and radiate it to this person…seeing them filled with a new wholeness…a new sense of balance…purpose…seeing them whole and healthy…pure and vital…and share your experience with them…feel them, too, filled with the pure white light…and add your blessing…

Allow yourself to merge again with the feeling of purity and wholeness of the light…breathe in…breathe in more white light…see it streaming down from the Divine….pouring into you like a funnel…a funnel coming down through your nose and filling your body, and then radiating out…spreading out around you…and spreading off through your house…around wherever you are…see it filling your environment with the pure white light…see your room filling with the pure white light…and then it radiating further…filling your house…everyone in it…filling them with purity, wholeness, health, and vitality…feel your love flowing with it…feeling that warm, happy feeling going with it…

As you breathe in more, draw down more of this energy…as you breathe out, radiate it beyond the house…to the people around you… to the houses around you…feel it moving off, across the country…

Breathing in more white light…drawing it down, like a funnel…drawing it dawn from the Divine…through your body, and out across the land…spreading out, so that you can imagine the whole country bathed in this pure white light…

Breathing in more white light…breathing it out, and feeling it travelling right around the globe…wrapping the whole planet in a pure white light…and share your feeling of peace and unity with the whole planet…radiate that feeling out, add feel it travelling right round, so that the whole planet is held like a ball of pure white light…

As you breathe in more, feel that white like streaming down…feel yourself again merging with it…feel it entering every part of your being…feel yourself at one with its purity…at one with its peace…one with its healing…feel yourself at one with its vitality…and realise that that white light symbolises Love in action…allow yourself to merge into that filling your whole being…feel it all through…feel its peace…be still…feel yourself merging with the stillness, to allow it to be all through you…completely…completely…be still…

The purpose of this Imagery Exercise is to establish a link between the conscious desire for physical changes and the subconscious mechanisms which control those physical processes.  For success, these exercises rely on establishing a rapport, a link, between mind and body.  Once this link is established, we are in a very creative and powerful position.

Summary of Healing Techniques

One of the ways in which we become aware of our own inner nature is through meditation. Meditation is a conscious effort to withdraw our focus of attention from the immediate physical and emotional distractions which we all experience in daily life, and to centre it within. Through such centering we gain a sense of unity with higher dimensions of the self, and this becomes a great source of strength and peace.

There are many different meditation techniques which achieve the same results. The important element is regularity, for without this there can be little long-term effect. Habitual practise builds up confidence and establishes a harmonious link between all the levels of consciousness which we have described. If practiced daily, meditation and visualisation can alter habits which create tension and can make a definite change in the personality and health of the individual. This is reflected in the chakras, as their rhythm will alter and new energy will flow in, thus helping to break destructive habit pattern. The chakras will begin to function together in harmony, and this in turn brings additional energy into the whole system.           In many cases, meditation gives a sense of self-mastery, so that a person feels able to change old habit patterns. It is through so doing that meditation can help us overcome the disease process.

One of my personal observations over the years- during which I have focused my attention primarily on the effects of healing and to a lesser extent on the functioning of the chakras-is that meditation and visualisation have a therapeutic effect. The sense of being part of a greater whole helps us to free ourselves from the common delusion that we are the centre of everything and from being preoccupied with ourselves. This feeling of wholeness also abates our tendency to concentrate on our illness- a tendency which only reinforces the disease process. Instead of identifying ourselves with our illness, we become aware of our own state of mind and our ability to change it.

It has been found that under stress the whole body is thrown into strain, and that the sympathetic nervous system is activated by the mere thought of something that must be escaped or dealt with forcibly. Heartbeat and breath become faster, adrenalin pours into the system, and the person may sweat. That all this can take place when something frightening appears in the imagination shows that there is no boundary between the physical body and the thoughts and feelings; what we imagine can be terrifyingly real to us.

In the same way, imagining or visualising happy and peaceful situations can have a tranquilising effect. Visualisation can certainly be very useful, for it helps to strengthen the power of concentration. For example, if we are anxious we should focus upon whatever is to us a symbol of peace, and visualise this not only during meditation but also during the day whenever anxiety begins to arise in us. If a symbol is to be effective, it must have meaning for us; therefore a person should select one that is connected with his own personal experience.

When we visualise, we are using the power of the brow chakra, and this shows up clearly to clairvoyant sight, since it not only speeds up the rotation of this centre but also affects the crown chakra. Therefore the practice of positive visualisation helps to promote the healing process, for it energizes the whole system and thus can have a beneficent effect on our health.

The greatest energy can be drawn from the highest levels of our consciousness. We can awaken to these levels within us through prayer and meditation, and also by truly altruistic actions. Genuine altruism breaks the pattern of self-concern, which often is the cause of somatic illness.

Meditation can lead to an indestructible conviction that we can whole, because we participate in the wholeness of the universe itself. When we are centred, there is no feeling of being caught in the disorder that may be around us, and thus we can experience real peace. This builds an inner core of steadiness which can keep us serene and in balance even in the face of life’s difficulties.

A case of great interest to me through the secondary data by DVK (a practitioner) illustrates that the effects both upon the chakras and on the healing process when changes in consciousness occur. A young woman who had a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis also had very little confidence in herself and her own abilities. At the time she came to see DVK, her energy system was low, and this of course affected her chakras. Soon thereafter she became very much interested both in meditation and in the healing process, and began the regular practice of meditation.

This made a great difference in her general health, and her chakra system reflected the change. Several of her centres were particularly affected: the brow chakra, the seat of concentration, and the crown chakra, the seat of consciousness and the gateway of higher energies, began to act in harmony with each other and with the heart chakra, and this in turn influenced the functioning of the solar plexus chakra. By consciously changing her thought patterns, she transferred her focus from the solar plexus to the heart, and this transformed the whole system.

When the heart and crown chakras work together harmoniously, this acts upon the thymus gland and strengthens the immune system. At the same time that this was taking place in that patient, she tried to involve herself in helping others through healing, which also brought new energy into the heart chakra. There was a noticeable change in both the rhythm and the movement of her three higher centres.

All this dramatically changed her life. In a few years the arthritis disappeared, and the integration of her faculties gave her self-confidence. She was able to take on a responsible position in important and difficult welfare work, which strengthened her recognition that she could make a contribution to others and her determination to lead a life of altruism.

The regular practice of visualisation and meditation relaxes tension as well as focusing the mind on a lofty or universal concept. This is liberating because it reaches a level beyond the problems and desires of the personal self. This changes the energy in the crown chakra and opens the mind and heart to dimensions of consciousness which flood one with peace, reduce emotional stress, and thus affect the whole body.
